inaugural news i can get behind.

In the general depression that hits on inauguration day (that, at least for me, occurs regardless of which one is being sworn in), I generally find solace in one of two things:
1) The Onion News
2) ignoring the whole thing

This year, to my pleasant surprise, a third option entered the scene:
3) fashion observation

Perhaps it is simply that I am much more aware of these sorts of things now then I was on previous inaugural days. Or, perchance, our current president’s platform of ‘change’ really was true and we can already see the evidence of it.

And, in a way, the charming ensemble Mrs Obama wore was much more friendly, personable, and inviting than anything I can remember any of the previous three First Ladies having worn. Though I am not sure the grandmother’s-old-yellow-couch look was quite what Mrs Obama was going for.

Nonetheless, if today’s pick of wardrobe is any indication of what we can expect to see these next four years, at least there shall be plenty of diversion from the drudgery of ‘real’ politics.
